When you begin to create a strategy for a public event like this, the challenge is to always get the word out to lots of people so they can be aware the event is happening. Traditionally, that is accomplished by spending lots of money on newspaper, billboards, direct mailings and other marketing processes that are very expensive. We opted to go another route.

Originally, we decided the best way to reach the people we wanted to reach would be through churches. So we created a discount code system that would allow church members to receive a significant discount on the ticket price and also allow us to tithe back to the church a certain amount for their help. To make a long story short we had to create the original list price of $79.00 to allow for all the discounting and tithing back to churches. What we learned is that churches have been more than willing to just help us and they prefer for their members to the get the full benefit of the discounts and the tithe.

Based on this we decided the right thing to do was just reduce the list price to $39.00 and offer that price to everyone, regardless of where they might go to church.
